She's covered sports for one of the largest media outlets in the world. She has covered basketball, football as well as Grand Slam Tennis for The Washington Post. In 2004, Nichols was transferred to ESPN for a period of nine years in which she earned 2 Emmy Awards and appeared on several of the network's top frequented shows such as SportsCenter and NFL Countdown. Additionally, she was an assistant journalist on the Monday Night Football broadcasts. Her next move was CNN, and then Turner Sports. Unguarded: Rachel Nichols hosted her own show on CNN International. A record-breaking 1 billion viewers watched it worldwide. During this time Nichols reported on TNT's NBA broadcasts, including the regular season, playoffs and the All-Star broadcast teams. Her duties on behalf of TBS also included golf and baseball coverage as well as Final Four broadcasts by CBS. The only woman to have been picked from over two hundred nominations in the 42-year old history of this award.
